AMETEK Surface Vision will exhibit to the iron and steel market at this year’s AISTech conference, happening May 6 through 9 at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center in Pittsburgh, PA.

AISTech 2019 visitors can learn more about the latest advancements in surface inspection and process monitoring for the metals industry from the AMETEK Surface Vision team at booth 1132.
A proven partner for increasing efficiency and improving product quality in the metals industry for over three decades, AMETEK Surface Vision continues to innovate highly-precise real-time detection and classification of metal defects with its
SmartView® surface inspection solution.
Highly-customizable to meet individual customer process needs, SmartView’s reliable, real-time optical inspection of both sides of the metal product provides full visibility of surface quality in the most-demanding metal processing environments, helping to increase product yields while lowering costs.
Using a modular, highly-flexible approach,
SmartView systems can be configured to meet the precise needs of individual processes, providing a unique, tailored solution. Powerful LED lights illuminate the metal surfaces uniformly to ensure the cameras can produce accurate, high-quality images across the process. This inspection data is then captured and analyzed through high-performance servers and processed by sophisticated software tools for classification, control and reporting.
SmartView’s latest software upgrade has added a Synchronized Web Viewer, which allows the user to open multiple viewers and use video file system enhancements. This increases the production line capability in coil-grading, line synchronization and system status monitoring, using intuitive drop-down menus and customizable windows to help narrow down results with precision.
In addition, users can identify new, extended streak thresholds in one inspection view, even in noisy backgrounds. This includes the removal of defects that don’t match a defined shape and an accurate width measurement on pass-lines, which have a large range of product thicknesses, such as plate-lines and slitters.
“No other solution offers the flexibility and ease-of-use that SmartView delivers,” said Francois Levac, AMETEK Surface Vision’s Director of Sales for Americas.
“Our approach is simple: provide the latest inspection solution optimized for each application, delivered with the highest consistency and without compromise.”
Visitors can also pick up AMETEK Surface Vision’s new
metals industry guide, which outlines the benefits of the SmartView system’s real-time video and modular design flexibility for iron and alloy manufacturers.
