AMETEK Surface Vision will Showcase its Systems to Steelmakers at AISTech 2021

Friday, June 4, 2021

AMETEK Surface Vision will be exhibiting its innovative products for the metals market at the AISTech’s 2021 Iron & Steel Technology Conference and Exposition this summer.

SmartView - Slit InspectionAmong the modular, scalable products that the company’s expert team will introduce are the SmartView® surface inspection and SmartAdvisor® process video monitoring systems.

AMETEK Surface Vision’s surface inspection systems are relied upon by almost every major strip metal producer around the world, with inspection solutions for every key stage of production. Many key processes in the steel industry depend on these systems for quality control.

The company also provides solutions that meet the challenges of the recently expanded electric vehicles (EV) market, with defect detection and quality assurance for silicon steel used for motors and transformers, and lightweight or other steel material for EV body structures.

AMETEK Surface Vision will be jointly exhibiting with sister company AMETEK Land at the event, allowing attendees to explore temperature measurement systems for their steelmaking processes.

Together, the two companies will also showcase their joint focus on decarbonization in the steel industry, with surface inspection and temperature measurement working together to improve thermal efficiency, increase product quality, and control emissions.

Improved thermal process management reduces energy consumption and emissions, improves yield, and lowers rejection numbers. Additionally, early defect detection removes defective material, saving on the cost and energy of further processing.

Peter Unwin, Global Industry Manager - Metals, from AMETEK Surface Vision, said: “AISTech 2021 offers us a great opportunity to meet customers in person once again, after so many events were cancelled or held virtually last year. We’re looking forward to being able to show people the latest versions of our surface inspection systems and revealing the software improvements we’ve made to improve defect detection and classification.”

This year’s AISTech Iron and Steel Technology Conference is being held at Nashville's Music City Center in the U.S. It takes place from June 29 to July 1, bringing together industry professionals from around the world.
