Tension Leveler

Prior to or after slitting, the metal sheet may go through a tension-leveller, passing over sets of rolls to flex and stretch the copper to remove buckling and introduce a uniform flatness.

The tension leveler stretches a rolled strip to a specified, controlled degree of elongation. The sheet is gripped by entry and exit bridle rolls, ensuring it is kept in tension, then passes through a series of steel rolls. This produces a flat, stress-equalized metal strip.

A strip subjected to a pure tension is more likely to break, so it is important to detect any problems at an early stage to prevent costly process stoppages. An automated web inspection system will detect any defects which may provide indications of potential issues.
