Winder

The winder is the first stage of the converting process for paper, and encompasses an unwinding roller, paper slitting machine and a rewinder. Large reels are fed into the winder and roll sets of the desired size are output.

After a parent reel has been transported from the paper machine to the winder, the paper is unwound and then slit into strips of the desired width. This paper is then wound onto cores to form the finished roll set.

Inspection of web condition at the winder helps to monitor any defects that could cause web breaks, affecting process efficiency. The Advanced Winder Advisor addition automatically stops the winder and marks each defect, allowing immediate resynchronization.
