Wrapping

When a paper roll is finished – usually after passing through the rewinder – it is wrapped to prevent any damage caused by handling or shipping. This is especially important if the paper has been treated for a particular purpose or is intended for decoration.

Wrapping the finished roll is usually an automated process. While manual, visual inspections are common at this stage, it is often difficult to monitor the entire roll, especially if the finished product is very large. An automated system is more accurate and reliable.

Monitoring the wrapping process ensures full coverage of the product roll. Video playback and storage allows a record to be kept of the condition in which the roll leaves the mill, in case of customer complaints.
