An integral part of many plastics production lines, sheeters convert the plastic roll into sheets. Inspection at this point is essential to maintaining consistent surface quality.

Sheeting is one of the most common and straightforward plastic conversion processes. A sheeter takes one or more rolls of plastic and cuts it into sheets which match predefined specifications.

Sheeting is a high-speed process and typically involves blades that cut the plastic to the specified size, making manual inspection difficult and unsafe. Automated inspection supports fast, continuous operation of the sheeter.

The cutting process, whether it is by blade or drop shearing, can damage the edge or surface of the plastic sheet. Automated inspection provides quality control of the product before it moves to the next stage of the process, ensuring it is of the required quality for its application.
