The winder is used to create rolls of plastic film. Any surface imperfection can adversely impact the roll or cause web breaks, so monitoring is important to both quality and production efficiency.
The winder system encompasses an unwinding roller, slitting machine and a rewinder. Large reels of plastic film are fed into the winder and roll sets of the desired size are output for transport, storage, or further application.
After a parent reel of plastic film has been transported from the production to the winder, the film is unwound and then slit into strips of the desired width. This film is then wound onto cores to form the finished roll set.
Inspection of web condition at the winder helps to monitor any defects that could cause web breaks, affecting process efficiency. The Advanced Winder Advisor addition automatically stops the winder and marks each defect, allowing immediate resynchronization.
